Intellectual Property for Designers
Understanding how IP rights can fit into your commercialisation strategy can be confusing – which is why IP Australia is here to help! IP Australia is the Government agency that administers intellectual property (IP) rights and legislation for patents, trade marks, design rights and plant breeder's rights. This session will provide an overview of the main types of IP, what they protect and how they work together to cover different parts of a business. Design is a critical enabler of Australian innovation, and our research has found that Australian designers contribute more than $67 billion to the economy each year. Design businesses are full of ideas and innovation that can be protected with IP rights and this session will focus on how utilising your IP can maximise your competitive advantage in the marketplace.
